we're not so different,

you and I...

I'm an author myself (publishing middle grade with Simon & Schuster and Random House

and young adult with HarperCollins) and I try to bring that perspective to my editing work.

I know what it feels like to hit the send button on new pages and then gnaw at your lip until

you hear back from your critique partner. I also know what it's like to read an agent's query response

through gaps in the fingertips held over your eyes. While I will offer honest feedback to help you get your work

to the next level, I will do so with kindness and consideration.

Middle grade, young adult, women's contemporary fiction, and romance are my specialty. It's what I write and it's what I read. My first love will always be contemporary (literary and commercial), with bonus points if yours has a dash of romance or humor. I also enjoy historical fiction, thrillers, mysteries, light fantasy, and horror (but, um, maybe not too scary?) and I will happily edit your dystopian, sci-fi, or paranormal, but please be aware that I don't read as widely in those categories and may not be able to comment on positioning strategies in the same manner.

If you're not interested in the query route, please know that I love working with self-publishing authors as well.

Here's a more official bio (and please visit my author website for much more about me and my books):

Jen Malone writes flirty Young Adult travel romances with HarperCollins and humorous "girl power” Middle Grade adventures with Simon & Schuster. Her published titles include Changes in Latitudes, Best. Night. Ever. (a seven-authored collaboration for which she is also credited as editor), The Sleepover, the You’re Invited series (with Gail Nall), At Your ServiceMap to the StarsWanderlost, and Follow Your Art (a companion story to the animated film Trolls). Next up in 2018 is The Art of the Swap (coauthored with Kristine Asselin). Jen once spent a year traveling the world solo, met her husband on the highway (literally), and went into labor with her identical twins while on a rock star's tour bus—these days she saves the drama for her books.
